Chinese girls between 14 and 21 are being sold from

time to time at slave markets in Hong Kong for prices

ranging from £8.108. to £17, according to the "Hong Kong

Herald", a British-owned paper.

The sales are held in closest secrecy.

buyers, who are informed of the date but never of the

whereabouts of a sale, arepicked up by cars and driven to

private residences, where the girls are on view. Prices

are attached to the girls and there is no bargaining.

Most of the girls are said to be refugees from

Canton, Swatow, Amoy and northern cities, where slave-

traders are making wholesale purchases.
